Beef Tallow

Beef tallow is solid at room temperature with a slightly waxy feel similar to coconut oil. When applied to skin tallow melts quickly feeling slightly oily that soon turns to a soft slightly occlusive skin feel.

Beef tallow fatty acid profiles are dependent upon many factors including (but not limited to) the diet of the animal, the breed of bovine, and climate. The following can be used as a guideline:

Saturated Fatty Acids:
Palmitic acid: (C16:0) makes up approximately 26% of tallow 
Stearic acid: (C18:0) makes up approximately 14% of tallow
Myristic acid: (C14:0) makes up approximately 3% of tallow.

Monounsaturated fatty acids:
Oleic acid:(C18-1, ω-9) makes up about 47% of tallow 
Palmitoleic acid:(C16:1) makes up about 3% of tallow.
