Argan Oil
Renowned as “liquid gold,” Argan Oil is a nutrient-rich botanical oil extracted from the kernels of the Argania spinosa tree, native to Morocco. It is a scientifically validated emollient used in skin, hair, and body care formulations for its exceptional moisturizing, protective, and restorative properties.
Composition & Benefits
Argan Oil is composed of approximately 42–48% oleic acid (omega-9) and 30–36% linoleic acid (omega-6), both of which are vital for maintaining a healthy skin barrier. Linoleic acid, in particular reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), making it ideal for dry or barrier-compromised skin.
The oil is also naturally high in tocopherols (Vitamin E), providing antioxidant protection against lipid peroxidation and environmental stressors. Clinical studies support argan oil’s ability to reduce roughness, and enhance hydration with regular topical use.
Phytosterols and squalene in Argan Oil contribute antioxidant effects, making this oil suitable for sensitive or mature skin types. It is also non-comedogenic and fast-absorbing, leaving a smooth, silky afterfeel without clogging pores.
Applications in Hair and Scalp Care
Argan Oil also demonstrates film-forming, anti-frizz, and cuticle-smoothing properties in hair applications. Its lipid profile improves combability, shine, and strength while reducing breakage, particularly in dry or chemically treated hair.
