Hair care products can be both the simplest and also trickiest formulations to create. Why is this the case? In simplest terms, everyone has different hair! Fine and flat, to course and curly, the hair shaft varies depending on who you are and your daily routine.
So how do we create perfect hair care products for everyone? Ask yourself for whom you are creating your product? What are the needs it will fulfill? If you are addressing frizzy hair and split ends, you may want to start with a hair staple, -Cyclomethicone!
If you are dealing with split ends, a trim is the only real way to stop the shaft from ongoing damage and continuous splitting. But if one is prone to split ends, then a simple hair serum based in Cyclomethicone can be a great solution. It forms a protective barrier and acts as a conditioning agent. It is light and yet very effective at smoothing the cuticles of the hair shaft and creating more shine.
When combined with oils renowned for hair enhancing properties, it aides in penetration and locks in sleek and silky moisture.
Formulating with Meadowfoam Seed oil is delight. When used in hair products, Cyclomethicone's luxurious qualities shine through, literally.
Soapers Supplies has a simple recipe sure to calm the frizzies and soften and smooth the cuticles of the hair shaft. You just need a drop of serum to create gorgeous shine and manageable locks.
Soapers Supplies Sleek and Silky Hair Serum
Start with 98% Cyclomethicone.
Add 2% Meadowfoam Seed Oil.
If fragrance is desired, use .5% desired FO or EO, and 97.5% Cyclomethicone. Keep the Meadowfoam Seed Oil at 2%.
Course or extra dry hair may respond better to Soapers Supplies Oat Carrier Oil.
Remember, if using a less stable oil with a shorter shelf life you will need to add 1% Vit E Antioxidant to help prevent rancidity. So, if using Vitamin E Antioxidant, your Cyclomethicone total will be one percent less, at 97%.
NOTE: Vitamin E Antioxidant is not the Vitamin E in your drug store (Vitamin E Acetate). It can, however, be found easily, here, in the Soapers Supplies Store.
It is that simple! You've made a luxury hair serum your customers will love. One drop or two will smooth hair after the shower, create shine and eliminate the appearance of frizzy hair. It can also be applied under a hot, wet towel and then shampooed away like an intensive heat-mask.
Keep in mind that a tub or shower may become slippery when working with oils. Please use caution.
Soapers Supplies also loves a decadent moisturizing conditioner. So we have all the ingredients to customize the ideal product for use after shampooing. (And don't forget leave-in detanglers!) We will discuss some of those formulas very soon. If you do not use Silicones, then you may find our Broccoli Seed Oil to be a shiny, protective replacement. You can find peace of mind knowing we have everything you need to make the perfect hair products you and your customers will love!
Tell us what you think of this serum, and the luxury hair oils we carry, such as Oat, Amla Fruit, Jamaican Black Castor, Meadowfoam seed, and Moringa. Which hair tamers should we talk about next?

I can't wait for more hair care. My almost 2 year old daughter have very tangly hair. I hate store bought detangler.

If I don't want to use silicones and plan on replacing with Broccoli Seed Oil, would the entire amount of cyclomethicone be replaced with Broccoli seed oil?

I LOVE this product! I use it on my colored, formerly fine, now coarse post menopausal hair...I put it in a spray bottle and spray my whole head lightly with a little extra on the ends. The silky hair of my youth has returned! Waiting on SS to develop a product to do the same with my skin ;-)
